Frequently Asked Questions
Who is 10 Weeks of 1:1 Recovery Coaching for?
The coaching is designed mainly for adults aged 25+ who want support with substance use, recovery, relapse, cravings, confidence, routines and making meaningful changes.
You do not need to be at a particular stage of recovery before asking for support.
What if I have had a lapse or relapse?
A lapse or relapse does not automatically mean you have to start again from the beginning.
We can look at what happened, what may have led up to it, what can be learned from it and what might help you move forward.
Is the coaching the same for everyone?
No.
The 10 sessions provide a clear framework, but the order, pace and focus are flexible. The content is tailored to your individual needs, where you are in recovery and where you want to be.
We may spend longer on certain areas, revisit topics, or adjust the focus depending on where you are in your recovery and what you need at the time.
How long is each session?
The offer includes ten individual 50-minute 1:1 coaching sessions, usually delivered weekly.
Are sessions online?
Yes. Sessions can be held online by video call, so support is available wherever you are.
Do you offer face-to-face sessions?
Face-to-face sessions may be possible in some circumstances and can be discussed individually.
What happens between sessions?
You will have WhatsApp support between sessions, with a phone call when needed and agreed.
This is designed to provide continuity while helping you build confidence in managing your own recovery.
Do you use CBT?
I use CBT-informed coaching strategies, rather than providing CBT therapy.
This may include exploring links between thoughts, feelings and behaviour, recognising unhelpful thinking patterns and developing different ways of responding.
What is Motivational Interviewing?
Motivational Interviewing is a way of helping you explore your own reasons for change.
Rather than telling you what you should do, it helps you think about what matters to you, what may be holding you back and what you want to move towards.
Do I have to stop drinking or using before I start?
You do not have to have everything sorted before making contact.
We can begin by looking honestly at where you are now and what you would like to change.
What if I am not sure whether coaching is right for me?
That is exactly what the free Discovery Call is for.
It gives us a chance to talk about what is happening for you, what kind of support you may need and whether working together feels right.
How do I get started?
You can begin by booking a free Discovery Call.
There is no pressure to commit. It is simply the first conversation.
Do you work with clients outside the UK?
Yes. Recovery For You Coaching is based in the UK, but online 1:1 coaching can be available to clients in other countries, subject to time zones, suitability and practical arrangements.
If you are unsure whether I can work with you where you live, you are welcome to ask during a Discovery Call.
Is Recovery For You Coaching an emergency or crisis service?
No. Recovery For You Coaching is not an emergency or crisis service and does not replace medical treatment or emergency care.
If you need urgent help or feel that you or someone else may be at immediate risk, please contact the appropriate emergency or healthcare service.
